Since 2019, the Annual Coal Bowl Classic has included a Special Olympics Unified Basketball Game in the schedule.

Breton Education Centre's Unified team will take on the Unified team of another local high school.

As of 2020, there have been two Unified Basketball games. BEC has taken on the Riverview Royals and the Sydney Academy Wildcats at Coal Bowl. 

There are Unified programs at local high schools and they continue to practice throughout the year. At the end of the year, there is a tournament held at one of the high schools, and BEC was lucky enough to hold the first tournament in the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education. Ever since that tournament, Unified Sport has been a staple in the community.
